BTC Chain Consensus

Haircomb utilizes the Bitcoin (BTC) blockchain for consensus, meaning it leverages Bitcoin's proof-of-work (PoW) consensus mechanism to validate and secure transactions. By building on the Bitcoin blockchain, Haircomb inherits the security and decentralized consensus of the most widely used and secure blockchain network.

  • Consensus Mechanism: Bitcoin's PoW system requires miners to solve computationally expensive cryptographic puzzles to validate transactions and add new blocks to the chain. Haircomb transactions are indirectly validated through this mechanism, ensuring that they benefit from the same level of security and immutability that BTC transactions do.
  • Chain Anchoring: Haircomb stores off-chain data and only commits cryptographic proofs (hashes) of this data to the Bitcoin chain. These on-chain commits ensure the immutability and integrity of the off-chain transaction data, while significantly reducing the storage load on the blockchain.
